Ian Barnes, DO, is a member of Summit Health’s Primary Care team. As a family medicine physician, Dr. Barnes’ expertise is primary care. Dr. Barnes’ scope includes but is not limited to diabetes, hypertension, and hyperlipidemia, as well as common dermatologic, ENT, psychiatric, and women’s health issues.

Dr. Barnes believes in listening to patients. “There is no exact formula for asking questions that will fit all patients,” he said. “Sometimes, you have to just let people tell their story.”

His passion for health care comes from an interest in human health and disease. He enjoys navigating the complexities of diagnosis and treatment with individuals who possess concerns that span the entire array of human pathophysiology. Dr. Barnes feels the most important thing during a visit is that the patient feels heard.

Outside of work, Dr. Barnes enjoys singing in choir and reading.
