Alpeshkumar Bavishi, MD, is a member of Summit Health’s Pulmonology team. Dr. Bavishi pursued a career in health care because seeing patients, treating their illnesses, and making them feel better provides him with immense joy and satisfaction.

Dr. Bavishi’s area of expertise involves treating a broad range of general pulmonary pathologies, including COPD, asthma, interstitial lung diseases, pulmonary infections, and pulmonary vascular diseases, among others.

His approach to patient care is simple and straightforward, always keeping the patient’s best interest in mind when making medical decisions regarding their care. “I provide them with all the necessary medical information they need and help make them active participants in those decisions by having an honest conversation with them about their health, providing them with the pros/cons of various treatment approaches,” explains Dr. Bavishi.

According to Dr. Bavishi, what is most important during a patient visit is to provide adequate time for his patients. He wants to make them feel at ease during patient encounters and give them plenty of opportunity to ask questions. He feels strongly about helping patients understand their medical problems in simplified non-medical language that they can understand easily and offering them compassionate care as part of the treatment process.

Dr. Bavishi is passionate about providing his patients with excellent care and empathy. He enjoys the opportunity his profession provides to directly interact with patients, treat their illnesses, and improve their quality of life. At the end of the day, it provides him with immense joy and satisfaction to make his patients feel better.

Outside of treating patients in his practice, Dr. Bavishi loves to spend time with his family and friends, travel, and visit national parks. He enjoys getting involved and helping his sons solve complex mathematical problems.
