Alan Blum, MD, is an experienced physician with Summit Health’s Pulmonology team. Dr. Blum wanted to pursue a career in health care to make a healthier world one person at a time. As a pulmonologist, the doctor’s area of expertise is diagnosing and treating patients with all types of lung illnesses.

During a visit, Dr. Blum focuses on his patients’ needs and helps ease their anxiety and fears with good listening. “It is my primary goal to have the patient understand their illness and have a desire to partner with me in treating it successfully as we plan next steps,” he explains.

Dr. Blum enjoys seeing an improvement in his patients’ condition when they return for a follow-up visit. He loves to see a success story that is in part due to his long-term doctor-patient partnerships.

When he is not providing quality health care to patients in the office, Dr. Blum enjoys spending time with his family, children, and grandchildren, as well as reading, hiking, and playing golf.
