About Megan Crowley, PA
Megan Crowley, MS PA-C is a member of Summit Health's Spine Surgery team. Ms. Crowley provides quality, patient-centered care with a focus on degenerative spine conditions. She first assists with surgery and cares for patients during both the pre-operative and post-operative stages. Previously, Ms. Crowley worked as a medical caregiver for children and adolescents with intellectual and developmental disabilities, such as cerebral palsy, autism spectrum disorder, Down syndrome, ADD/ADHD, Smith-Lemli-Opitz syndrome, Rett syndrome, Dravet syndrome, obstructive sleep apnea, hypotonia, and achondroplasia.
From a young age, Ms. Crowley enjoyed taking care of others, but it wasn’t until she lost her father to colon cancer that she was introduced to her true calling—becoming a Physician Assistant. Later, after having two ACL reconstructions herself, she became specifically interested in Orthopedic surgery. “Having played both the patient and provider role, I believe I offer a helpful perspective,” she says. “I hope to combine my knowledge and my life experiences to improve orthopedic spine care for all.”
In the future, Ms. Crowley looks forward to participating in clinical research focused on ACL rehabilitation protocols post ACL reconstruction and prevention of subsequent tears. She is also interested in helping to shine a light on health care equality for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities. “I’m devoted to treating every patient as if they are family or friend, despite age, gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or disability, and I will treat each person with the same time, dedication and commitment I would invest in those closest to me.”
When not with patients, Ms. Crowley can be found enjoying time outdoors running, hiking, biking, kayaking, skiing, scuba diving, and beekeeping. She looks forward to running the 2022 NYC Marathon. She is also passionate about pediatric and adult cancer awareness, and mental health awareness, specifically suicide prevention in health care providers. She is a past supporter of Ronald McDonald House Charities, American Cancer Society, Alex’s Lemonade Stand, Special Olympics, and National Alliance for Mental Illness.
