About Edward Monk, MD
Dr. Monk is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology. Following his undergraduate studies at SUNY Binghamton University, Dr. Monk took post-bachelor courses in microbiology, biochemistry and molecular biology at SUNY Purchase. He received his medical degree from SUNY Downstate Medical Center, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society.
He completed an internship at Yale New Haven Hospital and a residency in dermatology at SUNY-Downstate Medical Center. He went on to do a procedural dermatology fellowship at the Dermatologic SurgiCenter in Philadelphia. There he was trained in the Mohs surgery technique for removing skin cancers, and the reconstruction for the resulting defect. His training included laser and light procedures.
Dr. Monk is a member of the Mohs College. He has published several articles in peer reviewed journals about wound healing and a textbook chapter about skin cancer.
Dr. Monk is affiliated with White Plains Hospital. His professional interests include dermatologic procedures, wound healing, immunology and dermatologic signs of systemic disease. His personal interests include cooking, live music and animal behavior.
