Dr. Mattern is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in joint replacement surgery, sports medicine and arthroscopy, and fracture care.

Dr. Mattern graduated from Princeton University where he earned a degree in Molecular Biology with highest honors and was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. He attended medical school at Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons where he was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He also earned a Masters in Business Administration from Columbia Business School with Honors.

Dr. Mattern completed his surgical internship at the New York Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Medical Center. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Hospital for Special Surgery, ranked by US News & World Report as the #1 orthopaedic hospital in the United States. Dr. Mattern received extensive training in joint replacement, sports medicine, and orthopaedic trauma. During his residency, he was active in research, publishing journal articles on a wide variety of topics, including joint replacement surgery, arthroscopy, trauma, and spine surgery.

Dr. Mattern sees patients at both the White Plains and Purchase offices and operates at White Plains Hospital, Greenwich Hospital and the Rye Ambulatory Surgery Center.
