Richard Pizzo, DO, is a member of Summit Health’s Orthopedics and Sports Medicine team. As a fellowship-trained orthopedic hand surgeon, Dr. Pizzo focuses on the hand and upper extremities. He specializes in treating injuries of bones, muscles, tendons, ligaments, and nerves from the shoulders down to the fingertips. Dr. Pizzo also treats a variety of general orthopedic issues, such as sports injuries and injuries involving the lower extremities.

Dr. Pizzo believes that providing care that is highly tailored to each patient is important for ensuring successful outcomes. He uses open communication to gain a holistic understanding of each patient and their goals for treatment. Dr. Pizzo believes each patient should leave a visit feeling understood, supported, and secure in the care they receive.

“My first goal at every patient visit is to educate,” said Dr. Pizzo. “It is important for the patient to understand their diagnosis so that they are empowered to play an active role in deciding their course of treatment.”

Outside of work, Dr. Pizzo enjoys traveling and spending time with family.
