Joseph Tommasino, PA-C, MHS, PhD, FACC is a member of Summit Health’s Cardiology team. Dr. Tommasino decided to pursue a career in health care after first serving as a military corpsman in the 82nd Airborne Division. Most of his clinical experience is in emergency medicine and cardiology, and he is one of the first Physician Assistants to have the distinction of being inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC).

With over 45 years of experience Dr. Tommasino values the opportunity to treat his patients on a whole, building long-term relationships with them and their families. When it comes to patient care, Dr. Tommasino’s philosophy is to “try and listen carefully to what patients tell me so I can better approach the pathway to help diagnose and treat the individual,” he says. The most important thing during a patient visit is to make sure the patient is comfortable with him and the practice.

Making a difference in a patient’s life and seeing patients take an active role in their health care makes being a Physician’s Assistant most enjoyable and rewarding for Dr. Tommasino devoting time to his patients providing them with high-quality care that results in patient satisfaction and trust. He is passionate about preventative cardiology and educating the community about cardiac health and self-care.

When not in the office, Dr. Tommasino enjoys sailing, working out and spending time with his grandchildren. He is most passionate about continuing to grow his PA profession.
