Jeannett Marte MD is a member of the Summit Health Internal Medicine team. Dr. Marte pursued a career in health care because of her experience growing up with a special needs sibling, who helped shape her to become the person and doctor she is today. Her primary passion is to care for people, make a difference in their lives, and help them navigate through a challenging health care system.

Preventative medicine and treating patients with chronic conditions who are 18 years and older is the doctor’s main focus, with a special interest in educating patients about their conditions and appropriate resources they can use in managing their care.

“My philosophy involves listening to the patient to provide a comprehensive evaluation and treatment plan, while at the same time establishing a strong doctor-patient relationship”, Dr. Marte says. Additionally, patient education is also a very important part of her philosophy – when the patient understands their condition and the treatment options, they can make better informed decisions.

Most important during a patient visit is for Dr. Marte to listen to them and address their concerns. When the patient leaves the office, they should fully understand their disease and be prepared for any next steps. The doctor believes one of the most rewarding things about being a physician is the ability to make an impact on someone else’s life, and to significantly improve the quality of life in her patients.

When not practicing medicine, Dr. Marte enjoys home improvement projects, cooking, baking and spending time with family and friends. She is also passionate about teaching others about kindness, and educating the community about diabetes, weight loss, and dieting.
