Scott Richard, MD, is a member of the Gynecologic Oncology team at Summit Health. He specializes in treating cancers of the female reproductive tract including ovarian, fallopian tube, uterine, vaginal, cervical, and vulvar cancers. Dr. Richard also performs complex gynecologic surgery.

Growing up, Dr. Richard was fascinated by science and health and wanted to pursue a career that would allow him to help other people. Medicine was a natural fit and from an early age, he focused on becoming a health care provider.

“When I first meet patients, I share with them the philosophy to care that I believe in. To provide them with the best possible care, I will take care of them as if they were my mother, sisters, wife, or daughter,” he says.

During a patient visit, Dr. Richard believes it is important to make patients feel comfortable, put them at ease, and empower them to be central to their care. He enjoys meeting a diverse group of women and their families and becoming a partner with them during their cancer journey.

He is also passionate about educating the community regarding cancer prevention and treatment as well as genetic susceptibility for cancer. When he is not seeing patients in the office Dr. Richard enjoys skiing, biking, running, and spending time with his three children.
