About Robert Kantor, MD
Robert Kantor, MD is a fellowship-trained, board-certified Mohs micrographic surgeon and dermatologist. He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of malignant and benign skin tumors, as well as medical conditions affecting the skin. Dr. Kantor believes in taking great care to listen to each patient so that he can offer the best treatment options for the individual and has a compassionate bedside manner.
In certain situations, he treats skin cancer with Mohs surgery, which is a highly specialized technique for optimizing margin control while minimizing tissue loss and maximizing aesthetic outcomes. Dr. Kantor is well-trained in reconstructive surgery, and typically performs same day repair. Mohs surgery is not always the best choice of therapy, however, and he often performs surgical excisions in lieu of Mohs. Furthermore, most non-cancerous skin conditions and some cancers are treated without surgery.
Dr. Kantor completed his undergraduate training at Cornell University, followed by earning his Doctor of Medicine at SUNY Downstate College of Medicine in Brooklyn, NY. He completed an internship in Internal Medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City before returning to SUNY Downstate for residency in Dermatology. To pursue his passion in surgical dermatology, he completed a fellowship in Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology at University of Colorado, where he underwent intensive training in the management of skin cancer. Dr. Kantor is an avid skier, traveler, and tennis player.
