Hamed B. Lari, MD, specializes in surgical and medical management of diseases and injuries of the eye, including cataracts, glaucoma, dry-eye syndrome, diabetic eye problems, eye infections, and other anterior segment and external eye diseases.

Before joining Summit Health, Dr. Lari was a clinical instructor at Columbia University Medical Center / New York Presbyterian Harkness Eye Institute in New York City.

Dr. Lari's research interests are primarily devoted to surgical and medical management of glaucoma and complex cataract surgery. He is the coauthor of original articles and abstracts on glaucoma, cataract surgery, and drug treatments for the eyes (ocular pharmacology), which are published in prestigious, peer-reviewed scientific journals such as Journal of Glaucoma, Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and Archives of Ophthalmology. He continues to present his clinical research at national and international scientific conferences.

Dr. Lari is the recipient of more than 20 honors and awards, including the prestigious Lions Eye Research Foundation Annual Research Award. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology and a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), American Glaucoma Society (AGS), American College of Surgeons, and American Medical Association.

To his credit, Dr. Lari has volunteered his clinical expertise for regional health fairs offering eye care glaucoma screening at the Friends of Congressional Glaucoma Caucus Foundation, New York City Annual Day of Hope, and Annual Taxi Drivers Health Fair, among other organizations.

Dr. Lari advocates patient-centered and family-centered care. He says, "My approach to evaluating, planning, and delivering eye care is founded on my belief in and obligation to establish a mutually valuable partnership with every patient and his or her family members."

When Dr. Lari is not working with his patients, he enjoys playing tennis, cycling, skiing, and spending time with his family.
