Bolanle Akingboye, DO, is a member of Summit Health’s Pediatric and Adolescent team. Dr. Akingboye is board certified in pediatrics and provides care for patients age newborn up to young adult (21 years old). Dr. Akingboye grew up with a father who was a pharmacist and a mother who was a microbiologist so she developed an early love for science and decided to become a physician in third grade.

A career in health care has allowed Dr. Akingboye to use her mind and talents to help children and their families. She specifically chose to practice pediatrics because she believes caring for children uplifts society as a whole. Dr. Akingboye believes children represent the best part of their community and should be inspired, protected, and encouraged to flourish.

During visits with her patients, Dr. Akingboye works to ensure that children and their families are comfortable expressing their concerns and fully understand the treatment plan she recommends.

“I use a holistic approach to provide health care with compassion and respect,” she said. As an osteopathic physician, Dr. Akingboye believes it is crucial to treat the whole patient. She recognizes that treating patients requires assessing not only their physical being but also the psychosocial aspects of their lives. Her passions also extend outside the office to supporting and educating the community about mental health and the importance of childhood vaccines.

When she is not seeing patients in the office, Dr. Akingboye enjoys indoor gardening, family bike rides with her husband and two sons, sun-filled beach days, yoga, tennis and handcrafting natural gemstone jewelry.
