Eno Akpowowo, MD has an expertise in the area of Internal Medicine. She treats patients above the age of 18, including the geriatric population. Dr. Akpowowo manages acute and chronic general medical conditions, offers preventive health/screening services and referrals to other specialists for more complex conditions if needed. She also performs pap smears for females 18-65 years old.

“For as long as I can remember, I have had this innate desire to ensure the well being of those I encounter daily, to change the narrative and give hope. The burden of disease is not borne only by the sick, but by the entire family and community,” she says. A career in health care offers Dr. Akpowowo the privilege of impacting her world, one patient, family or community at a time; it is a drive that is strengthened by her faith.

Most important to Dr. Akpowowo during a patient visit is to listen to the patient’s concerns and do her best to address them. Additionally, respect, effective communication and empathy are tenets of her daily practice. She finds joy and fulfillment in meeting the health needs of her patients.

When not practicing medicine she enjoys community outreach, reading and child and adolescent leadership coaching. She is especially passionate about inner-cities, bridging the gaps to available health care and cancer research. Dr. Akpowowo also likes to educate the community about preventive health and common conditions like diabetes and obesity.
