Lena Makartian, MD, is a member of Summit Health’s Internal Medicine team. As an internist, Dr. Makartian has expertise in a broad spectrum of diseases, including acute and chronic medical conditions with a special interest in preventative health, obesity medicine and sleep medicine.

Before her residency, Dr. Makartian did clinical trial studies in Cystic Fibrosis patients at Hanover Medical School in Germany, that was published at American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine.

She is a member of the American College of Physicians, Obesity Medicine Association, American Academy of Sleep Medicine, the Society of General Internal Medicine and Society of Hospital Medicine.

“My goal is to provide information about evidence-based medicine to my patients and help guide them to their desired result,” said Dr. Makartian. During a visit, she believes it is important to listen to the patient and ask the right questions to help fully understand and satisfy their needs, while assisting with lifestyle modifications.

Outside of work, Dr. Makartian enjoys spending time with her family, biking, traveling, and exploring new cuisines.
