Rakhee Barai, MD, is a member of Summit Health’s Endocrinology team. She is a physician who has chosen to specialize in Endocrinology, with a particular focus on Diabetes and thyroid disorders. Dr. Barai values educating her patients, serving as their advocate, and providing them with the tools to be successful and empowered in caring for their own health.

Dr. Barai completed her medical degree at The George Washington University School of Medicine. She then pursued her residency at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, followed by a fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism at the University of California, Los Angeles. Her extensive training has equipped her with advanced knowledge and skills to provide personalized and evidence-based care in her field.

Dr. Barai believes that understanding patients from a clinical standpoint is only half the battle. She sees it as essential to also address their overall lifestyle when deciding proper management. She recognizes that medical care is individualized and takes time to pay attention to a patient’s background and culture, as these are essential to understand the patient as a whole.

She says, "I want to empower patients by providing the care and resources they need to create healthier lifestyles and take control over their diagnoses. It is crucial to tailor health care plans on an individual basis while applying evidence-based guidelines to clinical practice."

Outside of work, Dr. Barai enjoys exploring restaurants, traveling, trivia, interior design, and visiting modern art museums. These hobbies allow her to unwind and keep a balanced lifestyle, which she believes is important for everyone.
