Dr. Gitelman, a board-certified orthopedic and spine surgeon, earned his bachelor of science degree summa cum laude in biochemistry from State University (SUNY) of New York at Binghamton. He then received his medical degree from the SUNY Downstate College of Medicine, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. He completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at SUNY Stony Brook University Hospital. Dr. Gitelman then went on to complete a comprehensive fellowship in spine surgery at UCLA Santa Monica Spine Center, which is widely regarded as one of the top medical centers in the country.

He has published numerous articles and book chapters, and presented at multiple spine surgery conferences.

Dr. Gitelman joined Summit Health (formerly Westmed Medical Group) with Orthopaedic Associates of Stamford. He is affiliated with Greenwich Hospital and Stamford Hospital.

He specializes in treatment of cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine disorders, and has particular interest in conditions and techniques described below.
