Thomas Ferrick, PT, DPT, is a member of Summit Health’s Physical Therapy team. Mr. Ferrick always had an interest in anatomy, biomechanics, and exercise. Having torn his ACL in college, he underwent ACL reconstruction surgery and many months of physical rehabilitation. Mr. Ferrick was fascinated with this process, and it inspired him to pursue a career in physical therapy.

In addition to his expertise in physical therapy, Mr. Ferrick completed both residency and board-certification in orthopedics. “I enjoy treating all levels of athletes for extremity or spine conditions with a combination of manual therapy and exercise,” said Mr. Ferrick.

His philosophy on patient care is one that concentrates on building relationships with patients and focuses on getting to the root cause of their problem and not just treating their symptoms. During a patient visit, it is important that patients feel heard, understood, and confident they are in the right place to receive the treatment they need.

Mr. Ferrick is fulfilled when he builds relationships with people over the course of their care. Physical therapy is a field that allows him the opportunity to spend a significant amount of time with patients, which is not possible in all health care specialties.

When he is not treating patients, Mr. Ferrick enjoys weightlifting, cycling, hiking, and spending time with his wife, Carly, and dog, Winston.
