Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Treatments

PRP hair treatment is quick and can be done by your Summit Health doctor. From drawing blood to injecting it into your scalp, the whole process takes about 30 minutes.

After PRP hair treatment, you can return to your normal activities quickly. You may be told not to wash your hair and avoid exercise, smoking and alcohol on the day of treatment. 

The number of PRP treatments you'll need depends on how much hair you’ve lost and the results you are looking for. Most people need at least three treatments and should wait 4 to 6 weeks between sessions. After the third session, your doctor will check your hair to see if more treatments are needed.

It usually takes 5 to 7 months to see noticeable results from PRP hair treatment. It may take a little longer depending on the cause of your hair loss, but you should start to see thicker hair in a few months.

PRP hair treatment can last, but it depends on how your hair responds and the severity of the hair loss. Some people may need more treatment after 4 to 12 months.

You may feel some mild discomfort during the treatment. Your doctor can adjust the depth of the tiny needle punctures to make you more comfortable. After your facial, your skin may feel tender and warm and look red for 24 to 48 hours.

It usually takes 4 to 8 weeks to see results. After a few treatments, you'll notice smoother skin and a healthy glow.

Most people need about three sessions, spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. After the first three sessions, you might need maintenance treatments every 6 to 12 months to keep your skin looking its best.

PRP facials are great for most people, especially if you have fine lines, sun damage, acne scars or uneven skin. It’s not for people with autoimmune conditions, open wounds or certain skin problems like keloids.
