Meet Our Plastic Surgery Staff

Joseph Batac, MD, FACS is a member of Summit Health’s Plastic Surgery team. Dr. Batac was drawn to a career in healthcare at a young age, fascinated by the prospect of positively impacting people's lives through medicine. 

Dr. Batac performs aesthetic and reconstructive plastic surgery as well as orthopedic surgery of the hand. He specializes in aesthetic surgical and non-surgical interventions for the face, breast, and body. He is also skilled in skin cancer reconstruction, breast cancer reconstruction, and body contouring after weight loss surgery. In the realm of hand surgery, he treats bony fractures, tendon injuries, and nerve issues such as carpal tunnel syndrome.

Dr. Batac's philosophy is to create a patient-centered, holistic experience. He strives to provide first-class, personalized care to all his patients. "During your visit, you can expect to have all your goals and concerns addressed. We will then take the time to create an individualized treatment plan that fits you," says Dr. Batac. 

Dr. Batac finds great joy in his work, feeling truly privileged to have the opportunity and skill to achieve the post-operative results his patient’s desire. Outside of work, he enjoys golf and traveling. He has also been recently approved as a 2024 NY Top Doctor.

Dr. Dent currently serves as the Chair of the Department of Plastic Surgery at Summit Health (formerly Westmed Medical Group). She specializes in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the face, breasts and body, working with both adult and pediatric patients.

Dr. Dent received her bachelor of arts degree summa cum laude in classical archaeology from Dartmouth College, where she was admitted to the Phi Beta Kappa Society. She was then awarded her medical degree from Weill Cornell Medical College of Cornell University and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.

She completed her plastic surgery residency at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medicine and Columbia University Medical Center.

In addition to English, Dr. Dent is also fluent in French.

Peter Hyans, MD, FACS, is Medical Director of the Plastic Surgery Center and Chair of the Department of Surgical Specialties at Summit Health. He also is a founding board member for Curémonos — a nonprofit organization that supports underserved women with breast cancer.

A board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Hyans has 25 years of experience in plastic surgery. His expertise includes facial rejuvenation, body contouring, and cosmetic, reconstructive and revision breast surgery. Dr. Hyans also specializes in nonsurgical techniques with Botox®, Juvederm, Voluma®, Kybella®, SculptraTM, Fraxel®, Cellfina®, Ultherapy® and CoolSculpting™. He is the author or coauthor of articles concerning plastic and reconstructive surgery, which are published in prestigious, peer-reviewed scientific journals and popular regional lifestyle magazines. In addition, he is a contributing author for the book, Be Your Best: A Comprehensive Guide to Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, which offers patients expert advice on all aspects of cosmetic plastic surgery. A gifted speaker, he has participated in local and national invited presentations in his field.

Dr. Hyans believes that well-informed patients have realistic expectations and feel confident about their procedure. That is why his consultations are thorough and thoughtful, why he listens to each patient’s concerns, and why he provides honest, expert recommendations about what will yield the best results. In addition, he provides educational materials so that his patients can understand all aspects of their procedure, including recovery and the results they may expect. Dr. Hyans has also been honored by the American Cancer Society for his compassionate and expert surgical care of breast cancer patients and earned the American Cancer Society Diamond Ball Award for Medical Excellence.

Jain Joseph, MD is a member of Summit Health's Plastic Surgery Center team. He joins the team from the Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, MI, where he was Chief Fellow in the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Dr. Joseph is an accomplished researcher and teacher in his field, where he provided resident and medical student instruction at Wayne State University School of Medicine. He led research in scar and stretch mark reduction and in novel ways to treat carpal tunnel syndrome and trigger finger. Additionally, he has developed strong expertise in aesthetic and reconstructive breast surgery.

A first-generation Indian-American, Dr. Joseph grew up in Northern New Jersey. He received his undergraduate degree from Rutgers University before attending University of Medicine and Dentistry, New Jersey Medical School to complete his medical degree. After medical school, he completed his general surgery training at Morristown Medical Center, where he served as chief resident.

When he is not seeing patients, Dr. Joseph enjoys fitness and sports. As an avid Yankees and Giants fan, he is pleased to return to the New York metro area.

Dr. Momeni's patient-focused philosophy is to first determine the goals and expectations of his patients, and then offer personalized treatment recommendations that fit his patients' needs. Safety and effectiveness are the cornerstones of these recommendations. Dr. Momeni's team includes highly experienced and caring medical professionals hand-selected to deliver excellent results (Physician Assistant Rachel, Nurse Mary, and Patient Coordinator Shannon).

As a board-certified New Jersey plastic surgeon, Reza Momeni, MD, has expertise in cosmetic surgery of the face, breasts, and body. He also specializes in repairs after skin cancer surgery and endoscopic carpal tunnel release. In addition to surgical treatments, Dr. Momeni is experienced in minimally invasive and nonsurgical techniques with Botox®, Juvederm, Voluma®, Kybella®, SculptraTM, Fraxel® and Ultherapy®. Dr. Momeni is the former Section Chief of Plastic Surgery at Overlook Medical Center in Summit, New Jersey. He has authored scientific and lay articles in plastic surgery, which have been published in prestigious, peer-reviewed scientific journals and regional lifestyle magazines. In addition, he has given regional and national lectures about his work. The Consumer Research Council lists him among Top Plastic Surgeons in America, and Castle Connolly has selected Dr. Momeni as a Top Doctor in Plastic Surgery in New York Metro. Dr. Momeni’s fellow physicians have voted him among Top Doctors in New Jersey Monthly every year since 2007. More recently, he was selected as one of a handful of NJ plastic surgeons identified as Plastic Surgery Select. He has also been routinely listed in Millburn-Short Hills "Super Doctors."

Dr. Momeni has volunteered internationally with nonprofit organizations Smile Train, Healing the Children, and Changing Children's Lives, and Destination Hope to provide free surgical care for children with facial deformities (cleft lips and palates) and adult burn and accident victims. For this work, Dr. Momeni received the Ellis Island Medal of Honor in 2009. He has also received the American Medical Associations Physician Recognition Award. When he is not working with his patients, Dr. Momeni enjoys his family, the outdoors, and travel.

Daniel J. Pyo, MD, FACS, FAAP, FACCWS, is a board-certified plastic surgeon and specializes in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. Additionally, Dr. Pyo specializes in body contouring procedures, abdominal wall reconstruction, hand surgery, wound care, pediatric cleft lip and cleft palate surgery. Initially trained as a microsurgeon, Dr. Pyo is extremely proficient in technology and has expertise in robotic surgery.

Dr. Pyo has served as Chief of Plastic Surgery at Morristown Memorial Hospital. He has been a lecturer for Johnson & Johnson, KCI, Gore, ACell and Synthes. He actively teaches courses for other surgeons and has served on the prestigious AO TK Working Group, which is responsible for development of new technologies and education. He also serves on the Executive Board of the Korean American Medical Association, and is a Board Member and Trustee of the Morristown Medical Center Foundation and the Korean American Scholarship Foundation, which helps to raise and distribute scholarship funds for promising students in economic need. He is the incoming President of the NJ Society of Plastic Surgeons.

A proud Korean-American and dedicated family man, Dr. Pyo has devoted much of his time and service to helping those in dire need, primarily children. Dr. Pyo has been instrumental in developing the Craniofacial Deformities Center at Morristown Memorial Hospital, and serving as an active member. He has also participated in numerous mission trips to poor and underdeveloped countries, repairing birth defects and other physical abnormalities in children around the world. He has been team leader on trips to Kenya, China, Ethiopia, India, Honduras, Paraguay, Peru and Bolivia.

Dr. Schmid specializes in cosmetic surgery, reconstructive surgery, aesthetic breast surgery, body contouring procedures such as abdominoplasty and liposuction, head, neck, and skin cancer reconstruction, and hand surgery. He also has expertise in surgical and nonsurgical facial rejuvenation, including facelift, eyelid lift, necklift, soft-tissue filler, Botox® Cosmetic, and laser skin treatments. Dr. Schmid’s leading-edge training in microsurgery makes it possible for him to offer patients the latest, most effective procedures for breast reconstruction, including autologous tissue flap reconstruction techniques (DIEP and TRAM) and implant-based reconstruction.

Dr. Schmid is adept at achieving natural, beautiful results for his patients. He listens carefully to each patient’s goals and concerns to develop a plan that maximizes his expertise and addresses his patient’s desires.

Dr. Schmid is the author or coauthor of articles about plastic and reconstructive surgery, which are published in prestigious, peer-reviewed scientific journals such as Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Pediatric Surgery, and Current Orthopedic Practice. A gifted speaker, he has participated in local, regional, national, and international invited presentations in his field. He is a member of the American Medical Association, Wisconsin Medical Society, Phi Beta Kappa, Alpha Lambda Anthropology Honor Society, Alpha Epsilon Delta Premedical Honor Society, and Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.

To his credit, Dr. Schmid has been a volunteer surgeon for NICAPLAST, a volunteer plastic surgery mission for children in Nicaragua. He also has volunteered for St. Martin House and Habitat for Humanity in Madison, Wisconsin, the National Youth Leadership Forum in Chicago, and Project HOME in Philadelphia.

When he is not working with his patients, Dr. Schmid enjoys spending time with his wife, two daughters and son, cycling, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, and traveling. A percussionist and pianist, he also enjoys making and listening to music.

Dr. Suzman is one of the region's busiest plastic surgeons, specializing in reconstructive and cosmetic surgery of the face, breast, and body.

Lisa Clement, LE, is a licensed aesthetician and certified makeup artist working as part of Summit Health’s Plastic Surgery team. Ms. Clement studied skin care at Innovate Salon Academy and obtained her makeup certification from Chic Studios. She has worked in dermatology for several years and is extremely passionate about helping patients achieve their skin care goals. Ms. Clement is trained and experienced to offer comprehensive skin care services to patients including skin care consultations, facials, microdermabrasion, chemical peels, dermaplaning and microneedling.
