In a buzzworthy trend, many people are kicking off the new year with a resolve to cut out alcohol for a month – AKA Dry January. After the excesses of holiday (and pandemic) eating and drinking, abstaining from alcohol may be just what your body needs to start the new year clearer, more refreshed and healthier. In an article by Bustle, Summit Health internist Dr. Soma Mandal says there are multiple physical and emotional health benefits that skipping alcohol for a month can bring you, including sleeping better, having more energy, lowering risk for disease and boosting your mood.
