Hetal Patel, PharmD, BCACP is a member of Summit Health’s Pharmacy care team. Dr. Patel pursued a career in healthcare because of her desire to impact patients' overall health. She recognized that dealing with multiple medications and new health conditions can be overwhelming and challenging for many patients. She strongly believes that a team-based approach can help achieve health goals.

Primarily working in an office care setting, Dr. Patel assists with immunizations for the community, and aids in the management of hypertension, diabetes, cholesterol, and asthma. She also works closely with providers on opioid tapering. As a health professional, Dr. Patel prioritizes an evidence-based approach that is cost-effective to ensure medication adherence for the patient. She is also an advocate for patient education, helping them understand their medications and treatment better.

Dr. Patel shares this about her approach, "I believe that including the patient in their health care is integral for decision making. Educating my patients helps them become their own health advocate for better self-management and attainment of their health goals." For her, it is crucial to listen to the patient's concerns during visits and conduct a thorough medication reconciliation. This way, she ensures that the patient's treatment regimen is optimal and any potential problematic drug interactions are addressed.

Outside of work, Dr. Patel enjoys traveling with her family, and indulging in some of her creative hobbies including baking and crafting with her Cricut.
