About Sarah D. Cohen, MD
Dr. Cohen was awarded her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas after earning her undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania. She completed her general psychiatry residency at Montefiore Medical Center and went on to do a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry through the same institution. She is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in both child and adult psychiatry.
Prior to joining Summit Health (formerly Westmed Medical Group) in 2013, she was with New York City Children's Center in the Bronx, where she was chief of service of the older adolescent inpatient unit. Her responsibilities included medication management for the severely mentally ill and clinical supervision of individual, group and family therapies.
Dr. Cohen is an adjunct clinical professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where she continues to teach extensively. She has also been in private practice doing diagnostic assessments, medication management, parent skill training and individual therapies.
In her practice, she works with children, adolescents and their families struggling with a variety of mental illnesses. Dr. Cohen has a particular interest in behavioral therapies, positive parenting and psychopharmacology.
