Olga Oretsky, MS, LCGC is a genetic counselor with Summit Health. Ms. Oretsky began her career in research but was drawn towards the work of the nurses and nurse practitioners on the research team. She found it rewarding to work with and shadow these health care professionals and realized she wanted to help others through direct patient care rather than research.

Her area of expertise is genetic counseling for patients with cancer or who have a family history of cancer. “My approach to care is to listen to the patient’s needs and to take a holistic view of the patient as a whole person rather than a collection of symptoms or pieces of background information,” she says.

Ms. Oretsky believes it is important that her patients feel heard during their visit. She looks forward to providing the care and support that they are looking for within her scope of practice. Ms. Oretsky enjoys talking to her patients and hearing their stories.

Outside of seeing patients, Ms. Oretsky enjoys hiking, watching movies, and spending time with family and friends. She is also passionate about climate change, mental health, and health care equity. In addition, Ms. Oretsky is interested in educating the community about genetic counseling and testing, particularly in the area of cancer.
