About Kimberly Buff Prado, DNP, APN-C
Dr. Kimberly Prado serves as an Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner with a specialization in Cardiology at Summit Health. She possesses a doctoral degree in Adult Gerontology Acute and Primary Care from Rutgers University and is a board-certified nurse practitioner. With more than 30 years of professional experience, Dr. Prado was the first private practice cardiology nurse practitioner associated with Morristown Memorial Hospital and has been instrumental in the formulation of policy and practice guidelines for nurse practitioners, significantly contributing to the advancement of the field.
Dr. Prado conducted an investigator-led research study titled LDL Particle Number Predicts Coronary Artery Calcification in Asymptomatic Adults at Intermediate Risk of Cardiovascular Disease, and earned an evidence-based award from Sigma Theta Tau International. It was published in the Journal of Clinical Lipidology.
Dr. Prado currently chairs the Northern New Jersey chapter of the Preventive Cardiovascular Nurses Association and was recently featured as a guest speaker on the PCNA Heart to Heart Podcast on the topic of Lowering LDL. Dr. Prado has also been featured in Apple News, Food & Wine, and Prevention magazine.
Dr. Prado serves as a professor for doctoral nurse practitioner students at Rutgers University. She has authored numerous publications and has presented at both national and international conferences. Dr. Prado also possesses a paralegal certification and has served as an expert witness.
